Sell on Pinterest, Google Shopping and Instagram

Connect your catalogue to Pinterest, Google Merchant Center and Meta with your shop’s product feed, and claim your website on Pinterest.

Winslor publishes your catalogue as a product feed: an address that Pinterest, Google Merchant Center, Meta (Facebook and Instagram) and TikTok can read. You paste it once into each platform, which then re-reads it on its own: new products, prices and stock-outs show up without you sending anything again.

Find your feed address

  1. In your Winslor admin, open Marketing → Sales channels.
  2. Copy the address shown under “Your catalogue address”. It ends with /feed/products.xml and starts with your domain name if you have one, otherwise with your .winslor.com subdomain.
  3. If your shop publishes several languages, choose the feed language: each language has its own address, to add as a separate source.

The feed contains your published products, one line per variant (colour, size…) with its price, any compare-at price, its availability and its photos. Draft and hidden products are left out. A product without a photo is left out too, because Pinterest and Google require a photo for every item: the Sales channels page tells you how many products are affected.

While your shop is in maintenance mode, the feed answers with a temporary unavailability: platforms keep your items and try again later instead of deleting them.

Pinterest

You need a Pinterest Business account. Pinterest then asks you to claim your website before it accepts your catalogue, and to install its tag to measure your sales.

  1. Claim your website. On Pinterest, open your catalogues page (menu at the top left, business management section): its first step is to claim your website. Enter your shop's address starting with https://, choose the HTML tag method and copy the tag, or just its code. Paste it in Winslor → Marketing → Sales channels, “Claim your website” step, or in Settings → Identity, “Claim your website on Pinterest” card, and save. Wait a minute while your shop updates, then go back to Pinterest and confirm the claim.
  2. Install the Pinterest tag. In your Pinterest ads account, copy the numeric ID of your tag, then paste it in Winslor → Marketing → Sales channels, “Install the Pinterest tag” step, or in Settings → Advanced, “Pinterest tag” field (see Connect Google Analytics, the Meta Pixel and the Pinterest tag). Winslor installs the code for you: the tag only loads after the visitor accepts marketing cookies, and it measures product pages viewed, add-to-carts and purchases.
  3. Add your feed. On Pinterest, open your catalogues, add a data source and paste your feed address. Pinterest re-reads it every day.

On a .winslor.com address, use the HTML tag: Pinterest’s “HTML file” and “TXT record” methods require control over the server or the domain name. If you later connect your own domain name, claim that new address on Pinterest too: the tag stays in place.

To check that it worked: in your Pinterest account settings, in the section for claimed accounts, your address is listed under websites, with a button to unclaim it.

Google Merchant Center

Google shows, for free, the products of shops that send it their catalogue: Shopping tab, search results, Google Images. To connect yours, open Marketing → Sales channels and, on the Google Merchant Center card, click “Follow the step-by-step guide”: it takes you through each screen, with the addresses to copy. Here are the steps.

  1. Create your Merchant Center account. If you have already verified your shop in Search Console, use the same Google account: your website is recognised without a new verification (see List my shop on Google).
  2. Confirm the shop is yours. Merchant Center first offers to send you a code by email: choose another verification method instead (no mailbox exists on your Winslor subdomain), then the HTML tag. Copy the tag shown and paste it in the guide, or in Settings → Identity, “Google Search Console verification” card, then confirm the verification in Merchant Center. It is the same field for Search Console and Merchant Center: if it already holds a code for another Google account, paste the new tag after it, without deleting it.
  3. Add your catalogue. Merchant Center asks how you want to add your products: choose “Add products from a file”, then the option to enter the link to your file, and paste your feed address. Leave the authentication details empty. Google then re-reads the address every 24 hours.
  4. Check shipping. Google requires shipping costs to show your products in about thirty countries, including France, Belgium, Germany, Spain, Italy, the United Kingdom and the United States. Your feed sends the costs of your flat-rate delivery methods, country by country: for those countries, there is nothing to set up at Google. Rates worked out in real time by a carrier cannot be announced in advance: you set those in Merchant Center. The guide shows which countries your feed covers.
  5. State your return policy in Merchant Center: the feed doesn’t send it. The guide gives you the address of your returns page and your return window.
  6. If you sell clothing, shoes or accessories, Google needs to know who they are for (gender, age group). Your feed reads it from your category names (“Women”, “Men”, “Kids”…); for other items, state your shop’s usual audience in the guide.

Google then reviews each product before showing it: allow a few days, sometimes a few weeks. Free listings are on by default in Merchant Center.

The feed declares your products without a barcode (GTIN), which suits handmade items and own brands. If you resell branded products that carry one, Merchant Center may ask for it.

Facebook and Instagram (Meta)

  1. Install the Meta Pixel: paste its ID in Winslor → Marketing → Sales channels, “Install the Meta Pixel” step, or in Settings → Advanced (see Connect Google Analytics, the Meta Pixel and the Pinterest tag).
  2. In Meta’s Commerce Manager, create a catalogue, add a data source as a scheduled feed and paste your feed address.
  3. Link this catalogue to your pixel and to your Facebook and Instagram accounts to use it in your ads. Meta then shows what share of your pixel’s events matches an item in the catalogue: that tells you the two are properly linked.

Link sales to your catalogue

The tags Winslor installs send each platform the identifiers from your feed: the variant bought, or the product when no variant has been chosen yet. Each sale is thus linked to the right item in your catalogue, which enables dynamic ads and sales tracking by product.
